SureSmile – Arundel, ME
The Clear Path to a Straight Smile
It’s well-known that crooked, spaced out, and otherwise misaligned teeth can make smiling confidently, chewing properly, and enunciating clearly quite difficult. Despite this, many patients are hesitant to pursue orthodontic care for one reason: they don’t want to wear metal brackets and wires. The good news is that you may not have to! SureSmile was designed to deliver the same beautiful results with see-through, virtually undetectable aligners. To learn more, read on or schedule an appointment with our Arundel cosmetic dentist!

How SureSmile Works
First, you’ll meet with our dedicated dentist, Dr. KwonDuk Jung, so he can determine if you’re a candidate for SureSmile. If you are, then he will use the scans of your teeth to create a custom series of clear aligners. You’ll wear each set for 7-14 days, which will give your teeth enough time to move a step closer to their ideal positions. Remember, wearing your trays for 22 hours a day is important too – if you don’t wear them, they won’t work!
Indications for SureSmile
In addition to being comfortable and clear, SureSmile is also quite versatile! To date, it’s helped more than 12 million patients with the below orthodontic problems:
Crowded Teeth
If your teeth overlap, then it’s harder for your toothbrush and floss to effectively remove food particles and plaque. Fortunately, clear aligners can place just enough pressure on your teeth to guide them comfortably into their ideal positions, improving the look and health of your smile in the process.
Gaps Between Teeth
Since gapped teeth also increase your chances of developing serious oral health problems, like tooth decay, investing in SureSmile can improve more than just your confidence. Plus, you’ll be able to watch the entire transformation process because the aligners are clear and removable!
Bite Alignment
If your bite isn’t aligned properly, you’re at an increased risk of premature wear as well as TMJ dysfunction. With the clear aligners and other orthodontic tools, like rubber bands, we can create a custom treatment plan to address your underbite, overbite, or crossbite.
The Benefits of SureSmile
Previously, we touched on the fact that more than 12 million patients around the world have chosen SureSmile. Why? Well, here are a few reasons:
- The aligners are see-through, making them hard to detect
- The average treatment timeline is only 12-18 months
- The aligners are removable, which means no complicated oral hygiene regimens
- There aren’t any dietary restrictions
- There are fewer check-in visits
Understanding the Cost of SureSmile
Many patients are surprised to learn that there isn’t a flat fee for SureSmile. The reason why is that each treatment plan is custom-made! In order to provide you with a price estimate, we need to learn more about your unique dental needs, like if we need to straighten both arches of teeth. Don’t worry – we will provide you with a number at your consultation and review all of the financial solutions available to you, like CareCredit.
Factors That Affect the Cost of SureSmile
We mentioned above that whether we are straightening one or both arches of your teeth will impact the cost. Of course, there are other factors we need to consider, including the complexity of your case, how many aligners are needed, and if rubber bands or any other orthodontic accessories need to be added to your treatment plan. Rest assured, we will review all of this information with you following your exam. That way, you have a detailed estimate of the cost and how we got to that number.
SureSmile vs. Mail-In Aligners: Which Costs More?
Over the years, you may have seen advertisements for mail-in aligners. In fact, you may have even considered going this route because of the lower upfront cost! One thing that the commercials and posts on social media don’t mention is that they rely on DIY impressions, countless patients have had awful experiences, and they don’t have support from professional organizations like the American Dental Association. In short, even though the price is higher, it’s worth investing in SureSmile.
Does Dental Insurance Cover SureSmile?
Patients are often surprised to learn that their dental insurance benefits will cover a portion of the cost of SureSmile. Of course, your coverage depends entirely on your plan, which is why it’s important to read through the fine print. You can also call the helpline on your paperwork to get further information, or you can reach out to us! We have years of experience helping patients utilize their benefits, and we can do the same for you.
Options for Making SureSmile Affordable
Don’t have dental insurance? Fortunately, there is another way to make the cost of SureSmile more affordable: CareCredit. If you haven’t heard of CareCredit, it’s a third-party financer that offers a wide range of payment plans. That way, you don’t have to pay for the entire cost in one large sum. Instead, you can choose the payment plan that works best with your monthly budget and space out the price over the course of several months. You might even find that the payment plan you choose has little-to-no interest attached.
